Mark Roper

Mark Roper loves what he does and has a true passion for making New Mexico a better place to Live, Work and Play! He believes the key to achieving those goals is generating wealth for individuals, companies and communities through positive economic and tax policies, that allow individuals and companies to prosper financially, grow professionally, while maintaining a quality of life and family. As Team Leader for the Regional Representatives, Roper and his staff participate in community and economic development activities statewide. They provide information on finance, workforce development, incentives, tax credits, and community capacity building. This challenge includes having a broad range of knowledge on who the experts are and directing their client in the proper direction.

Roper has been with the State of New Mexico Economic Development Department since 2011, and is proud to be a 7th generation New Mexican, striving to make his state more economically viable for the future.

Sheri Clark has over 27 years of business analysis, process improvement, quality assurance, and software engineering experience. She has utilized a variety of process improvement and business modeling techniques for large and small organizations in Europe and the United States, and has conducted numerous CMM assessments and participated in ISO 9000 audits. 

Clark’s experience with defining strategies and develop plans and processes for large corporations and small organizations is the foundation of her business coaching methods. She is founder and senior consultant of Clark Consulting Group, LLC. 

Clark is an ASQ Certified Manager of Quality and Operational Excellence (CMQ/OE) and has received the ASQ Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA) certification. She is Chairperson of the Albuquerque Women In Technology group of the New Mexico Technology Council (NMTC). Clark has extensive experience implementing LEAN+, ISO 9000 and ISO 9003 training; formally trained by the SEI in CMM, CMMI and SCAMPI evaluations; ITIL Foundations.

RiskSense co-founder Mark Fidel is responsible for advocating and growing RiskSense’s client portfolio in the States of NM and AZ, where RiskSense is headquartered. Fidel is also a licensed New Mexico attorney, and brings more than 16 years’ experience in law and litigation.  Fidel holds a Bachelor of Arts and Economics degree with a major in Finance from NMSU. He earned an Executive Master of Business Administration degree from UNM and his law degree from the University of Denver.

Michael Herrick is a cybersecurity expert located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Having been an entrepreneur over half his life, Michael brings over 25 years of experience helping small businesses and health care providers achieve success and security. Starting Matterform in 1992, Herrick has spearheaded positive culture changes in line of business applications for small business. Herrick is a recognized expert not only in cybersecurity, but in HIPAA compliance as well. In 2014, he launched HIPAA.Host, a resource for health care providers to remain ahead of the curve with United States government health compliance laws.

Sonja Dewing is a published author, freelance writer, and CEO of Plot Duckies. Her business, Plot Duckies, eliminates writer’s block and writers to publishing through their monthly subscription boxes and writerly events.
Her love of social media has propelled her into work as a local influencer, a social media manager for a variety of businesses, and a successful creative.
She successfully launched a crowdfunding/presale campaign with Publishizer that netted her a publisher for her first novel, Toy of the Gods. She successfully used Facebook to fill her first Plot Duckies event, the Short Storyathon, and she’s grown her clients, like FatPipe ABQ and Albuquerque Roller Derby to large fanbases.

Zach Leyba
Zach Leyba is a digital marketing professional living in Albuquerque. He has provided his expertise to several of NM’s biggest brands such as UNM, Rio Grande Inc., and most recently to Meow Wolf, where he serves as Social Media Manager. Outside of the professional world, he gigs out in downtown ABQ as a drummer and makes memes for the delight of his friends and family.

She jumped to city government from years of communications and digital marketing work in political and community advocacy. Rachael graduated cum laude with a BA in American Studies from UNM and also holds a certificate in Fashion Design from Santa Fe Community College. A native New Mexican, she loves our state’s unique way of life and our resilient communities.


Chris Cloud

Chris Cloud is an artist, curator, culture maker, and for many years was a fixture in Minneapolis, MN’s creative milieu before heading to Santa Fe to become Meow Wolf’s first Marketing Creative Director.

He was the co-founder of MPLS.TV, an online Do-It-Together video network; MPLSzine, a submissions-based digital publication; and Pizza Camp, an overnight camp for pizza-loving adults.

Virginia Fraser’s practice includes a deep background in operating model redesign, Shared Services, and business transformation for private and public institutions, including universities, colleges, and state government. Fraser has over 22 years of project leadership experience in a variety of high-profile settings, including seven years as a research project director at Carnegie Mellon University prior to Deloitte. She works closely with institutions to find solutions to complex problems and to bring these solutions to life through customer-centric, change-enabled design and implementation, tailored to the unique needs of individual institutions and the cultural complexities inherent within Higher Education. Feng Hou

Currently serving as the Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Learning Officer at CNM, Feng Hou is a Harvard educated and award winning IT leader with more than 20 years of digital transformation experience.

As a member of the President Executive Team, Hou manages over 80 staff, leading digital transformation with strategic development to improve customer digital experience, enhance operational efficiency and cut IT spending. Since he started at CNM in June 2016, Hou has established IT agile services, technology training services and customer digital experience services without adding any new IT positions. Under his leadership, IT is creating a one-stop technology service and training center to support CNM students and employees.

Last year, Hou led the blockchain initiative to implement a student owned digital certificate and degree diploma solution, which made CNM the first community college in the nation to use blockchain technology to provide their students with digital credentials. He has received The Blockchain for Education Vision Award for his leadership and achievement in blockchain. Building upon the successful experience, Hou is working on a number of blockchain use cases from creating a universal student ID, managing faculty credit hour based pay by using smart contract to building a stackable micro-credentialing solution to certify student soft skills.

Hou is the Co-founder of Albuquerque Blockchain Alliance (ABA) and currently serves on the national reviewing board for the Blockchain Certificate Exam, as well as a member of the National Government Blockchain Chamber Albuquerque Chapter. He serves on the Board of Directors for Higher Education Computing/ Communication Services (CHECS) and the Board of Directors for New Mexico Technology Council. He was twice elected as President of Florida Association of Educational Data Systems (FAEDS).

Jeremy Lovato currently serves as president of the CIO council for this state’s higher education institutions, NMCHECS.
He oversees all IT operations and leads his team’s delivery of quality service to a diverse population of students, faculty, staff, and guests. An alumnus of SFCC, he also has a Business Management and Administration degree from Western Governors University.

Duane Arruti obtained his BBA from James Madison University in 1995 and his MBA from the University of New Mexico in 2008. He joined the University of New Mexico as a staff member in 1996 and has worked both on Main Campus and at the Health Sciences Center.
Arruti has taken a leadership role in a number of cross-campus technology initiatives, not the least of which was the UNM Banner implementation from 2002 to 2008. In his broad 20+ years in higher education administration, Arruti has served as Associate Controller for Financial Services, Associate Vice President for Human Resources, Director of Enterprise Applications, and most recently, Chief Information Officer. He  is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and also serves as an Adjunct Faculty member at the Anderson School of Management.

Norma Grijalva obtained a Bachelors and Masters degree of Science in Electrical Engineering. She earned her Interdisciplinary Doctorate in Educational Management and Development and Curriculum and Instruction. She has more than 20 years of progressive experience managing IT services, delivery and improvements. Norma’s experience includes leading multiple teams and institution-wide projects to deliver a range of services to meet NMSU’s needs. Her technical and strategic skills have resulted in the delivery of highly available and disaster tolerant administrative and educational services. The combination of education and technical experience allow her to lead an information technology organization.
